About Pete Dunne

Peter Thomas England, better known in the ring as Pete Dunne, was born on 9 November 1993 in Solihull and raised in Chelmsley Wood. He came up in a British wrestling scene built as much in community centres and local halls as in major arenas. By the time many wrestlers are only beginning to train, England was already learning the craft. He began training in 2006 at age 12 under Steve “Psycho” Edwards at Phoenix Wrestling in Coventry, later saying that the training gave him only “the basics.”

His first match came in 2007 at the Holbrooks Festival in Coventry, where he first met and wrestled Mark Andrews. In the years that followed, he worked small shows around Birmingham and beyond, sometimes under a mask as Tiger Kid. After losing a hair vs. mask match to Helix at Riot Act Wrestling in Kent in January 2010, he retired the character and mask, took on the Pete Dunne name, and began appearing regularly in a tag team with his kayfabe brother Damian Dunne. He practiced with Andrews and other friends in a re-purposed boxing ring in a Cardiff community centre during school holidays, while taking bookings for small independent promotions wherever he could.

Dunne’s outlook was shaped by that self-starting period. In 2011, seeking more chances for their group of friends, he and ring announcer Jim Lee co-founded Attack! Pro Wrestling and arranged a weekend of shows in Birmingham. Dunne was an ever-present performer as the promotion expanded mainly into Cardiff and Bristol. In 2014, he was one of the subjects of the BBC Three programme “People Like Us,” which followed people from Chelmsley Wood and nearby areas working toward personal goals, including Dunne’s goal of becoming a professional wrestler. In Attack!, he later became one of the main villains after turning on Mark Andrews at “Mandrews Goes To America” in January 2015.

Before reaching WWE, Dunne built a wide record across the independent circuit. He competed for promotions including Fight Club: Pro, Insane Championship Wrestling, Michinoku Pro Wrestling, Over the Top Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Progress Wrestling, Revolution Pro Wrestling, Singapore Pro Wrestling, Westside Xtreme Wrestling, and others. In Japan, he toured with Michinoku Pro Wrestling in 2013. In Revolution Pro Wrestling, he won the RPW British Cruiserweight Championship in January 2016 and defended it against opponents including Morgan Webster, Sonjay Dutt, A. C. H., Mike Bailey, and Matt Cross before losing it to Will Ospreay. In Progress Wrestling, he became part of British Strong Style with Trent Seven and later held the Progress World Championship.

Dunne signed with WWE and was assigned to NXT UK and NXT. There he became WWE United Kingdom Champion, later won the NXT Tag Team Championship with Matt Riddle, and with Riddle also won the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. After moving to the main roster, he worked from 2022 to 2024 as Butch, a member of the Brawling Brutes stable. In January 2024, England returned to the Pete Dunne name and began teaming with Tyler Bate as New Catch Republic. In 2025, they were repackaged as Los Americanos, with Dunne performing as Rayo Americano and Bate as Bravo Americano. As of January 2026, he is signed to WWE on the Raw brand and also works as a producer for WWE’s sister promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.

Dunne’s career reads as the story of a wrestler who started young, learned in modest rooms, and kept adding roles: performer, trainer, co-founder, champion, tag partner, and producer. His words matter to wrestling fans because they come from someone who saw the sport from the ground up, from community-centre rings to WWE television, and carried the habits of that early work with him.
