About Christine Caine

Christine Caine, born Christine Caryofyllis on 23 September 1966, is an Australian activist, evangelist, author, and public speaker. Australian-born and of Greek descent, she was adopted at birth by Greek Orthodox immigrants and raised in public commission housing in Lalor Park, New South Wales, in Sydney, Australia. Her public work has grown out of a modern Christian speaking and leadership setting, where conferences, television, nonprofit work, and global ministry often overlap.

Caine was educated at Lynwood Park Public School and Blacktown Girls High School, then graduated from the University of Sydney with a degree in English. She also attended Hillsong College, graduating in 1992, and later completed an M.A. in Evangelism and Leadership at Wheaton College in 2022 through a cohort-based program in partnership between Propel Women and Wheaton College. Her early life included several years of sexual abuse as a child, a fact that gives context to the themes of recovery, faith, courage, and purpose that run through much of her work.

Her ministry began in youth work. Caine first volunteered as a youth worker, helping establish Hills District Youth Service, and later became director of the nationwide youth ministry Youth Alive. In 2008, she and her husband, Nick Caine, founded The A21 Campaign, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, non-governmental organization that combats human trafficking around the globe. A21 works across 19 locations in 14 countries, with aims that include preventing trafficking through awareness, protecting victims in shelters and transition homes, prosecuting traffickers and strengthening legal responses, and partnering with law enforcement, individuals, corporations, official bodies, and other organizations.

In January 2015, Caine founded Propel Women, a Christian women’s organization focused on empowering women to fulfill their potential. Its stated aims include honoring the calling of every woman, equipping her for success, empowering her to lead, and developing a sense of God-given purpose. Caine and her husband are also founders of Zoe Churches, with locations in Bulgaria, Poland, and Greece. Alongside these organizations, she has written numerous books on Christianity, including Run to Win in 2008, A Life Unleashed in 2012, and Resilient Hope in 2022.

Caine has spoken about faith and leadership at conferences and events across the globe, and she has appeared on international television programs including Praise the Lord, Life Today with James Robison, Better Together, Huckabee, Enjoying Everyday Life, and Daystar. In October 2016, TBN launched a weekly television show featuring her, Equip & Empower with Christine Caine. In 2018, author Carey Scott sued Caine and HarperCollins Christian Publishing over alleged copyright infringement involving Unashamed and the related work Unshakeable; a settlement was reached later that year, and later printings credited Scott’s work or were reworded.

Caine married Nick Caine in 1996, and they have two daughters. She is also a cancer survivor. For readers who come to her through short quotations, one line often captures the tone of her message: “Sometimes when you are in a dark place, you think you have been buried. But actually, you have been planted.” It reflects the language she is most associated with: faith under pressure, purpose after pain, and the belief that hidden seasons can still hold life.
